Chelsea, Manchester United eyeing Mohammed Kudus swoop

Chelsea and Manchester United are reportedly keen on signing 25-year-old Ghanaian international Mohammed Kudus from Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Chelsea and Manchester United are interested in Tottenham Hotspur forward Mohammed Kudus. The two Premier League giants are keen on reinforcing their offensive units by signing a versatile attacker in the upcoming transfer window.

The latest report also gives Chelsea and Manchester United hopes of signing the Accra native in the coming months, as the player is “not considering playing in the Championship” next season. So, Tottenham’s negotiating power will be strong if they avoid relegation from the Premier League.

Mohammed Kudus and his Tottenham journey

Mohammed Kudus has made significant progress since joining Tottenham Hotspur from West Ham United last summer in a deal worth €70 million. The 25-year-old hit the ground running at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and he has been a rare bright spot for the North London club this term.

The Ghanaian international managed three goals and six assists in 26 outings in all competitions before a hamstring injury prematurely ended his 2025/26 campaign. With Tottenham at risk of falling outside the Premier League, Kudus and several other high-profile players have piqued the attention of several giants. Chelsea and Manchester United are among the prospective suitors vying for the former West Ham attacker.

Move across the Premier League on the cards?

Chelsea mulled over signing Mohammed Kudus last summer before he picked Tottenham Hotspur as his destination. The continued interest makes sense, even though the Blues have a stacked offensive unit. However, Alejandro Garnacho and Jamie Gittens have been dreadful this season, and they can do with an upgrade in the offensive unit. So, the versatile Kudus is a viable target for Chelsea.

As for Manchester United, the Red Devils are also keen on reinforcing their offensive unit in the summer transfer window. However, they need a recognised left-winger, and Kudus will not be a solution for that issue. So, Manchester United should focus on other players instead of pushing for a deal for Kudus.

Meanwhile, with Kudus keen on playing at the top level in the 2026/27 season, Chelsea and Manchester United will be in contention to sign him, particularly if they can offer UEFA Champions League football. Their negotiating power will improve if Tottenham cannot avoid relegation from the Premier League.
