Everton, Leeds United, Tottenham vying for Ayase Ueda

Everton, Leeds United, and Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keen on signing 38-cap Japanese international Ayase Ueda from Feyenoord in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by TEAMtalk, Everton, Leeds United, and Tottenham Hotspur are interested in Ayase Ueda. The three Premier League clubs are eager to bolster their offensive units by signing a striker ahead of the 2026/27 season. So, they have extensively scouted the 27-year-old striker and “conducted background work” on him this season.

How has Ayase Ueda fared since his Feyenoord transfer?

Ayase Ueda has finally become a pivotal figure for Feyenoord this season after being slow off the blocks at the Eredivisie club. De Trots van Zuid paid a club-record fee worth €10 million to sign the Japanese striker in August 2023, but he managed only 12 goals in his first two campaigns at the Dutch club.

However, the 27-year-old has turned things around this season, accumulating 26 goals and two assists in 38 appearances across all competitions thus far. Meanwhile, Ueda’s exploits have piqued the attention of several well-known clubs, and a move to the Premier League may be on the cards, as Everton, Leeds United, and Tottenham Hotspur are among the prospective suitors vying for his signature.

Premier League switch on the cards?

Everton will dip into the market for a striker in the upcoming transfer window, as Beto and Thierno Barry have not been consistent enough to become the undisputed first-choice striker for the Merseyside club. While the former has been impressive in recent weeks, Barry has struggled to make his mark in his debut season. So, with the Toffees have European aspirations, they need a prolific attacker, with several candidates, including Liam Delap, emerging on their wishlist.

Meanwhile, Leeds United’s interest in Ayase Ueda makes sense. While Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Lukas Nmecha, and Noah Okafor have impressed in fits and starts, Daniel Farke wants a consistent and productive alternative to the trio, as his preferred formation requires two strikers.
