Everton will reportedly look to sign 23-year-old English striker Liam Delap from Chelsea in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by TEAMtalk, Chelsea striker Liam Delap is the subject of interest from Everton. The Toffees are keen on bolstering their offensive unit by signing a centre-forward in the coming months, and they have identified the struggling 23-year-old as one of their three options for the position.
However, a separate report by Daily Telegraph has brought bad news for his prospective suitors. The update has revealed that the Englishman wants to “stay and fight” for his Chelsea career. So unless the Blues force Delap out this summer, Everton may not have a chance to secure his services.
How has Liam Delap fared at Chelsea?
Liam Delap has hit a brick wall since joining Chelsea from Ipswich Town in a deal worth £30 million last summer. The 23-year-old arrived at Stamford Bridge amid hype and fanfare surrounding him after the West London club paid a cost-effective fee to secure his services. However, fitness issues have plagued the player for most of his debut campaign.
When Delap has not been in the treatment room, he has been behind Joao Pedro in the pecking order. The English striker managed only 1,055 minutes of game time in 24 appearances thus far for Chelsea this term, chipping in with two goals and four assists. However, the youngster’s stock remains high, with Everton among the prospective suitors vying for his signature heading into the summer transfer window.
Move across the Premier League on the cards?
Everton wanted to sign Liam Delap from Ipswich Town last summer before he joined Chelsea. While the move did not materialise, the continued interest is understandable, as Thierno Barry and Beto have been inconsistent in the 2025/26 season. So, Everton will return to the market to sign a striker this summer.
Several candidates have thus emerged on Everton’s wishlist, with Delap also being a viable option. The latest report has revealed that the 23-year-old Englishman has become the Merseyside club’s top striker target heading into the summer transfer window.
Meanwhile, Chelsea will demand around £30 million to part ways with Delap in the coming months, hoping to recoup the fee they paid to sign him from Ipswich Town last summer. With the West London club ready to sell the English striker after only one season, Everton may have a chance to secure his services.
