Saudi Pro League clubs will reportedly look to sign Real Madrid veteran duo David Alaba and Luka Modric in 2024.

According to a report by Catalan outlet Esport3, the Saudi Pro League might be the next destination for David Alaba and Luka Modric. The Public Investment Fund will sanction 2024 moves for the Real Madrid veteran duo. But Los Blancos might not entertain any offers for either player next year.

Luka Modric has been with Real Madrid for over a decade, going from strength to strength in the last 11 years. Spanish media bizarrely branded him the worst signing of the 2012/13 season, but he has emphatically hit back. The 38-year-old has thus been instrumental in title-winning campaigns in Europe and domestic football.

In addition, Modric has won the Ballon d’Or during the period while guiding Croatia to back-to-back top-three finishes in the World Cup. On the other hand, David Alaba was already among the best players in the world before joining Real Madrid two years ago. But the free transfer has worked out for both parties.

The 31-year-old has primarily played as a centre-back while essaying the left-back role at times. And the Austrian international has made nearly 100 appearances for Real Madrid, chipping in with five goals. But Alaba’s future is uncertain, with Saudi Pro League clubs keen on signing him.

The Public Investment Fund wants to continue the heavy spending in 2024 and has identified Real Madrid veteran duo David Alaba and Luka Modric as two of the top targets. But recent reports have claimed that Real Madrid will not entertain any offers for the former. In addition, the player is happy and content at the Santiago Bernabeu.

As for Modric, the Croatian international is gradually becoming a bit-part player for Real Madrid. And while he is unhappy with his new role at the Bernabeu, Modric has previously asserted that he wants to end his career at Real Madrid. So, a 2024 move might not materialise for either player.

Nonetheless, it will be interesting to see if any Saudi Pro League club can turn either Alaba or Modric’s head. For now, a 2024 move seems highly unlikely for the Real Madrid veteran duo, with neither agitating for a transfer.
