Real Madrid will not entertain any bids to part ways with versatile 31-year-old Austrian defender David Alaba this summer.

Reputed Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has refuted claims that Saudi Arabian clubs are trying to prise David Alaba away from Real Madrid. And the Merengues are not interested in parting ways with the versatile 31-year-old defender either. In addition, Alaba is happy at Real Madrid and will not look for a summer departure.

David Alaba has been one of the most reliable performers for Real Madrid since arriving in a Bosman move in July 2021. The Austrian international had become a free agent after running down his contract with Bayern Munich. And while many high-profile clubs were keen on signing him, he had his heart set on Real Madrid.

The versatile 31-year-old defender has been a regular for Real Madrid in the last two seasons after immediately establishing a foothold at the Santiago Bernabeu. He has turned out 89 times thus far for Los Blancos, chipping in with five goals and eight assists. And Alaba has made four appearances in the ongoing season.

Primarily a left-back during his time at Bayern Munich, the experienced defender has remodelled himself as a centre-back in the last few years. In addition, he can play as a holding midfielder, thus making him an asset for any team he represents. But the summer transfer window has produced a bout of speculation surrounding him.

Recent reports have claimed that Saudi Pro League outfits are keen on prising him away from Real Madrid. But Fabrizio Romano has refuted rumours linking Alaba with a possible exit before the summer transfer window shuts down in Saudi Arabia.

The Italian journalist has suggested that those rumours are wide of the mark. In addition, Real Madrid would not entertain any offers for the versatile 31-year-old defender even if he was attracting interest from prospective suitors, not even if they received “crazy” bids.

As for Alaba, the Austrian international is happy and content at Real Madrid. He also loves the city and the club and will not agitate for a departure. So any move, if it happens, will only see the light of day next summer at the earliest.
