Barcelona submit enquiry for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Chelsea striker Pierre Emerick Aubameyang has been linked with a move away from the London club at the end of the season.

According to a report from Daily Mail, the future of Pierre Emerick Aubameyang at Chelsea is in doubt after the Blues decided to leave him out of their UEFA Champions League squad. Apparently, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, and AC Milan are all looking to sign the player at the end of the season. And all three clubs have already made enquiries ahead of a potential summer move.

Barcelona only sold the player to Chelsea at the start of the season. And it would be quite surprising if they decided to bring him back once again. But the Catalan giants were keen on re-signing Aubameyang in January before FFP issues scuppered the move.

Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid and AC Milan could certainly use more depth in the attacking department. And the Chelsea striker could prove to be a quality short-term addition. The veteran striker has a market value of just €12 million.

Aubameyang was expected to hit the ground running when he returned to the Premier League with Chelsea. But the move has not worked out for either party. The former Arsenal captain has struggled to hit top form, failing to find the back of the net on a consistent basis.

Chelsea are expected to invest in a quality centre-forward at the end of the season. So it makes sense for them to cash in on the 33-year-old. Aubameyang has scored just three goals across all competitions for the Blues this season.

He has a contract at Stamford Bridge until the summer of 2024. And the 33-year-old should be available for a reasonable price at the end of the season. Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, and AC Milan certainly have the finances to sign the player for a knockdown price. And it remains to be seen where he ends up eventually.

Aubameyang is reportedly disappointed with Chelsea’s decision to leave him out of their Champions League squad and will be angling for a move away from Stamford Bridge soon. The opportunity to join a top club could be an attractive proposition for the player. He has the quality to improve all three teams if he joined them next season.
