Premier League giants Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing Jarrod Bowen from West Ham United in the summer transfer window.

According to Simon Phillips, Jarrod Bowen is the subject of interest from Chelsea over a possible move in the summer transfer window. The West Ham United forward is one of six wide attackers featuring on the west London club’s shortlist of candidates to pursue to bolster their frontline.

Jarrod Bowen has been a revelation since joining West Ham United from Hull City in January 2020. The 25-year-old has become the latest success story of a player emerging from the lower levels of English football to strike gold in the Premier League. His exploits have also helped him establish a foothold in the English national team this year.

Bowen enjoyed an excellent 2021/22 campaign, amassing 18 goals and 13 assists in 51 appearances for West Ham, finishing the season as the Hammers’ top scorer. His stock has invariably skyrocketed due to his performances for West Ham. And several high-profile clubs, including Chelsea, have set their sights on him.

The Blues have primarily focused on bolstering their defensive unit in the summer transfer window following the departures of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen. And while there have been mixed results in Chelsea’s hunt for multiple centre-backs, they also need to reinforce the attacking arsenal.

Romelu Lukaku has already departed from Stamford Bridge, with Chelsea replenishing his position by signing Raheem Sterling. But Chelsea could sell at least one of Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner, and Christian Pulisic, thus necessitating the addition of a wide attacker. Raphinha had been a top target for the west London club before he completed a dream move to Barcelona.

Chelsea also targeted a move for Ousmane Dembele, but the Frenchman has signed a new contract with Barcelona. Bowen has thus emerged as a viable target for Chelsea, with the Blues compiling a six-player shortlist to pursue in the coming weeks as Thomas Tuchel gets desperate to get his squad in shape heading into the 2022/23 season.

But while Bowen is an option worth considering, Chelsea could face stiff competition from ‘Big Six’ rivals, with every top Premier League club monitoring his progress closely. However, West Ham are unlikely to let the 25-year-old leave this summer, with David Moyes having lofty ambitions for the upcoming season.
