Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler has suggested AC Milan winger Christian Pulisic as a candidate to replace Mohamed Salah, urging the club to pursue the United States international this summer in search of attacking reinforcements.
Fowler shared his thoughts on social media, arguing Pulisic deserves consideration despite limited transfer speculation.
He wrote on X: “Plenty of rumours about as to who’s going to @LFC.One name I’ve not seen mentioned is Pulisic… good age, played in the prem, exciting player. I’d take him, potentially a Salah type of pathway, thoughts?“
At 27, Pulisic possesses Premier League experience and could follow a similar career arc to Salah—unproven in England, reinvigorated abroad. Liverpool’s recruitment team have assessed multiple options after Salah’s exit, but Fowler believes the answer could lie in a proven player rebuilding his reputation overseas.
Pulisic’s Chelsea years saw flashes of quality interrupted by injuries, but he collected Champions League winners’ medals before joining AC Milan in 2023. Since arriving in Italy, the American has enjoyed arguably the best spell of his club career. He has become one of Milan’s standout performers, contributing consistently with goals and assists while operating across multiple attacking positions. His strong form in Italy has renewed interest from European clubs; a Premier League return is being discussed.
Should Liverpool move for Pulisic?
Supporters will probably be divided on the fit: some favour younger players with greater resale value, while others cite Pulisic’s experience, versatility, and improved consistency in Serie A. His captaincy of the United States national team and familiarity with the Premier League would ease adaptation.
Fowler’s endorsement has ensured the AC Milan star’s name is now part of the conversation as Liverpool evaluates attacking targets following Salah’s departure.
The former Chelsea star has scored 42 goals for Milan since joining the club, and he has established himself as one of the first names on the team sheet. The Italian club will not want to lose him, but he is entering the final year of his contract. They could be under pressure to consider serious offers. They will not want to lose a player of his quality for free next summer.
