Manchester City registered a spectacular 1-0 victory against reigning Premier League champions Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
The scoreline may suggest otherwise but Manchester City earned a well-deserved win against Chelsea last night. Kevin de Bruyne scored the only goal of the match after half time against his former club, a rising left-foot drive from outside the area.
That gifted Pep Guardiola’s men a solid victory, which also saw them catapult over Manchester United in the league table. City had to do without striker Sergio Aguero, who sustained rib injuries in a car crash but City coped with his absence splendidly.
City never looked in danger once De Bruyne scored and almost added a second when Gabriel Jesus’ volley was headed off the line by Antonio Rudiger. Besides the loss, Chelsea also received a setback with Alvaro Morata picking up an injury in the first half. THT takes a look at some of the best tweets regarding the match.
Gabriel Jesus has that Tevez quality. Absolutely tenacious. Happy to make something of dead cause. #CHEMCI

For those of you who didn't see the big game, here is a handy summary. Despite the score, the woman is City, the man Chelsea. #CHEMCI pic.twitter.com/jY0v8864jT

Wow. @ManCity absolutely bullied @ChelseaFC at their place today. 😳
You don’t get many more impressive 1-0 wins than that.#CFCvMCFC— Moh Haider (@ArsenalMoh8) September 30, 2017
Felt sorry for
Christensen who was solid
Hazard who got no service
Morata who got injured
& Michy who wasn't trusted over Willian..

A lot was spoken about Eden Hazard. The player made a pretty strong comeback but fell flat against Manchester City, much to the ire of Blues fans.

If Chelsea fans were upset about the loss, Manchester City fans were elated with the result.
Outstanding performance from @ManCity. Breathtaking as ever going forward, but more solid at the back this season. Only 2 goals conceded.

Fair play to Manchester City. Totally outclassed Chelsea from start to finish. Deserve their win. Kevin De Bruyne ran the show. Top player.

De Bruyne turned this match from a frustrating draw into a resounding win for Manchester City.
