Chelsea are in pole position as Tottenham Hotspur face battle to keep hold of their talismanic forward Harry Kane this summer.

According to Football Insider, Chelsea have emerged as a top contender in the race to sign Harry Kane. It appears the Premier League giants are ready to splash the cash on a top-class forward, as Thomas Tuchel is not convinced of the likes of Timo Werner and Tammy Abraham while Olivier Giroud will leave the club in the summer.

Roman Abramovich is ready to replicate last summer’s spending spree, with Kane emerging as one of the top three options, along with Romelu Lukaku and Erling Haaland.

Tottenham Hotspur are not very keen on offloading their talismanic forward, but following their struggles in both league and Europe, they could be forced into a sale, knowing the player is already frustrated over the club’s underachievement in recent years.

Chelsea, in contrast, have enjoyed immense success since the appointment of Tuchel. They have steadily moved up the league table and are strong contenders to finish in the top four while also reaching the final of the UEFA Champions League, thanks to masterful performances against Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid in the knockout stages.

The Blues, though, do need a slight overhaul in the number nine department, especially as star attacker Timo Werner has struggled to live up to the expectations. He has even been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge after just one season at Stamford Bridge while Tammy Abraham has attracted interest from Aston Villa.

Chelsea, therefore, will be keen on signing a top-class centre forward and that is where Kane comes into the fray. The Englishman is widely regarded as one of the top strikers in world football, having enjoyed immense success in the Premier League, with 164 goals in just 242 appearances.

Kane’s exposure in English football, coupled with experience at the highest level could be useful for Chelsea, especially with the creative support of players like Kai Havertz, Christian Pulisic and Mason Mount.

As for Tottenham, the departure of the talismanic forward could create a huge void in their attacking unit, although the Lilywhites have been shockingly linked with a move for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

There is no secret that Kane is going to fetch a sizeable fee upon his potential sale in the summer, so it will be interesting to see how Lilywhites plan to utilise it, with Aubameyang one of many options available for chairman Daniel Levy.
