AC Milan have reportedly entered the race to sign Franck Kessie, with club officials making contact with the midfielder’s agent over a summer deal.

Italian publication Calciomercato have reported that AC Milan are the latest club to join the race to sign Franck Kessie in the summer, and are now set to rival the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and AS Roma for the midfielder’s signature in the summer.

Franck Kessie’s stock continues to rise and the Ivory Coast international is slowly but surely making everyone sit up and take note of his undoubted talents.

The highly rated Kessie has established himself in the Atalanta midfield and is now a vital member in a side that has enjoyed unprecedented success in the Serie A this season and are surprisingly challenging for a place in Europe.

What has been mightily admirable about Kessie is that apart from his exploits in midfield, where his work rate has made him an ever present in the centre of the park, he has also shown the tendency to contribute in attack, with seven goals and two assists in 19 appearances, numbers that make for impressive reading.

As he continues to improve, Kessie has generated interest from several clubs around Europe, with the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and AS Roma the most heavily linked sides with the 20-year-old powerhouse midfielder.

In fact, it was revealed earlier this month that AS Roma had stolen the march on the two Premier League heavyweights by sealing a move for Kessie after the Ivorian youngster agreed a summer transfer to the Stadio Olimpico.

However, as reported by Football Italia, AS Roma Sporting director Ricky Massara revealed earlier this week that the Giallorossi have not signed Kessie. He said, “No, that’s not the case. Kessie is an Atalanta player, a very good player who has received attention from big clubs, but Atalanta have no intention of selling and are holding on tight.”

With Massara insisting that Kessie has not moved to Roma, it has now emerged that AC Milan are looking the closest to sign the midfielder, with the report stating that the Rossoneri “have made a decisive move” to bring the 20-year-old to San Siro.

The report further adds that Milan directors Massimiliano Mirabelli and Marco Fassone have met with Kessie’s agent in Milan this week, and they discussed the deal on offer for the midfielder.

Milan is currently in the middle of a takeover from a group of Chinese investors and it is believed that the new owners are willing to spend the required money to take the club back to the very top of Italian and European football.

Kessie’s acquisition could represent a step in the right direction, and if signed, his tenacity and tirelessness would make for an exciting midfield combination alongside the ever progressing Manuel Locatelli.
