Estevao Willian increasingly frustrated at Chelsea, set for crunch talks

Estevao Willian is frustrated by the lack of minutes at Chelsea under Xabi Alonso and is all set to hold crunch talks with the club.

Estevao Willian is increasingly frustrated at Chelsea because of the lack of minutes, with the club potentially facing crunch talks over his future in January, as per a report from TEAMtalk.

The 19-year-old arrived at Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2025 with considerable expectations after establishing himself as one of South America’s most exciting young talents, enjoying an encouraging maiden campaign with 12 goal contributions in 36 appearances.

On the back of his heroics last season, he expected a more prominent role in the team. However, Estevao has struggled to secure a regular role this season, managing just 47 minutes of Premier League football and was left on the bench for Chelsea’s home defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.

Overall, the talented South American attacking sensation has only managed 172 minutes of game time across his eight outings, and he has yet to contribute towards a goal. Estevao is frustrated by his limited involvement, particularly after hoping to take on a more important role under Alonso.

Chelsea will try their best to hold onto Estevao

The former Real Madrid boss has urged fringe members of his squad to remain patient amid a lack of game time. Estevao, however, is keen to establish himself rather than spend the campaign on the bench.

The competition for attacking positions has intensified his struggle. Morgan Rogers’s arrival and Pedro Neto’s growing importance have complicated his route into the starting XI. In contrast, Estevao started two of Brazil’s friendly matches in the most recent international break, highlighting the gap between his international and club playing time.

Chelsea have no intention of allowing a generational talent like him to leave. However, the West London outfit could be forced to reconsider their position in January if Estevao’s minutes remain limited.

Crunch talks may become necessary to clarify his role, though the club currently have no intention of loaning him out, let alone sell, and they remain committed to his development. For now, Estevao is determined to force his way into Alonso’s plans, but the turn of the year could become decisive.
