Brighton & Hove Albion are preparing to test Tottenham Hotspur’s resolve with a major move for Lucas Bergvall, according to a report from TEAMtalk, as the Seagulls step up their pursuit of one of the Premier League’s brightest young midfield prospects.
The club’s recruitment team is convinced he has the qualities to develop into another standout performer at the Amex Stadium, and the Seagulls are prepared to meet Tottenham’s valuation, which is understood to be nearing the £60 million mark, in what would represent the biggest transfer in Brighton’s history.
Brighton’s interest comes only weeks after they successfully lured Luka Vuskovic away from Tottenham, and they are now hoping to complete another high-profile deal involving the North London outfit.
The club see Bergvall as a player capable of fitting seamlessly into their long-term project while strengthening their midfield for years to come. Tottenham’s position has changed significantly over the course of the summer.
Although the club continue to regard the 19-year-old as one of their most promising young players, they are now prepared to consider offers if their asking price is met.
Bergvall looks set to leave Tottenham in the near future
