Tottenham Hotspur will be happy to produce a bid worth €30 million to sign 19-year-old Brazilian attacking sensation Rayan Vitor Simplicio Rocha from Vasco da Gama.
According to an update by Brazilian journalist Jorge Nicola, Rayan Vitor Simplicio Rocha is the subject of interest from Tottenham Hotspur. The Lilywhites are scouring the market for a highly-rated attacker, and they have set their sights on the Vasco da Gama wonderkid. They are ready to pay €30 million to sign the 19-year-old striker, but Chelsea and Aston Villa are also keen on signing him.
Rayan Vitor Simplicio Rocha and his rise in his homeland
Rayan Vitor Simplicio Rocha is one of the latest highly-rated prodigies to rise in prominence in his homeland since breaking into the first-team squad at Vasco da Gama. The Rio de Janeiro native has spent his formative years thus far with Vasco da Gama, joining the club as a six-year-old in 2012. The 19-year-old progressed through the ranks at the club before making his senior bow.
The Brazilian wonderkid made his first-team bow for the Brasileirao Serie A club in 2023, and he has risen in stature in the last two years, making nearly 100 appearances thus far while chipping in with 17 goals and two assists. Meanwhile, the youngster’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several Premier League bigwigs, including Aston Villa, Chelsea, and Tottenham Hotspur.
Premier League move on the horizon?
Aston Villa will dip into the market for a striker next year, as Ollie Watkins will be on the wrong side of 30 by next summer. So, signing the Vasco da Gama wonderkid will enable Aston Villa to define a succession plan for the English international, making him an appealing target for the West Midlands club.
Meanwhile, Chelsea’s interest in Rayan Vitor Simplicio Rocha is understandable. The Blues always have a stacked offensive unit due to their infamous hoarding policy in the last few years. They constantly scour the South American market for promising prodigies, and Estevao Willian is the latest wonderkid to make his mark for Chelsea. So, his compatriot has unsurprisingly emerged as a target for the West London club.
As for Tottenham Hotspur, Son Heung-min has created a void in the offensive unit at the North London club after moving to MLS club LAFC. Additionally, Dominic Solanke has yet to make his mark for Tottenham. The Lilywhites are now intensifying their efforts to sign the teenage sensation, as they are ready to submit a bid worth €30 million to secure his services..
However, with Aston Villa and Chelsea also in the equation, it will be interesting to see if the 2024/25 UEFA Europa League winners win the race when they further their interest in the 19-year-old Brazilian wonderkid.
