Paris Saint-Germain will reportedly look to launch the offensive to sign Ousmane Dembele once he leaves Barcelona as a free agent this summer.

According to a report by Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo, Ousmane Dembele is again the subject of interest from Paris Saint-Germain over a Bosman move in the summer transfer window. The Barcelona contract rebel is poised to depart from Camp Nou as a free agent ahead of the 2022/23 season.

Ousmane Dembele has been a polarising figure since joining Barcelona from Borussia Dortmund in August 2017. The 25-year-old has shown plenty of promise during the last five years, but his fitness and attitude issues have left fans and coaches exasperated in equal measure.

But Xavi Hernandez’s guiding hand came as a blessing for Dembele, especially in the second half of the 2021/22 season. The French international won over the Barcelona fans by becoming a pivotal figure for the Blaugrana, ending the campaign with more assists than anyone else in La Liga (13) despite playing only 21 games. But Dembele’s Barcelona stint will likely end this summer, with PSG a potential destination.

PSG had been keen on signing Dembele in the January transfer window, with personal terms supposedly being a formality. But a winter move failed to materialise, with Dembele subsequently turning his fortunes around at FC Barcelona in the second half of the 2021/22 season.

However, despite Barcelona’s best efforts, Dembele is destined to depart from Camp Nou as a free agent, with the two parties unable to reach an agreement over a new contract. And the development has prompted PSG to reignite the pursuit of the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner.

Les Parisiens had previously ended their interest in Dembele due to his lofty wage demands. But the French international’s impending departure from Barcelona has given PSG renewed hope to vie for his signature. Following Angel Di Maria’s exit as a free agent, PSG needed to invest in a wide-attacker, especially with Neymar also facing an uncertain future at Parc des Princes.

But PSG will likely have to fend off stiff competition from Chelsea, with the Blues reportedly the front-runners to secure his services in a Bosman move. It will be interesting to see if PSG can win the race to sign the Barcelona contract rebel, whose stint at Camp Nou will end in a couple of weeks.
