Yan Diomande has commented on the links to some of the top clubs, insisting he is focused on his task with RB Leipzig.
RB Leipzig made a tremendous bet when signing Yan Diomande from Leganés in the summer, and the move has paid off its dividends. Not only are the German side staring at the possibility of a big player on their hands, but there could also be an opportunity around the summer window to make a massive profit on their investment.
With 11 goals and 7 assists in the Bundesliga, he is probably Leipzig’s most prized asset ahead of the summer window. Diomande has already attracted significant interest from the Premier League’s biggest teams ahead of the next window, with Liverpool and Chelsea among the chasing pack.
The idea of making the jump to England at this stage of his career will seem appealing to the 19-year-old winger. Arsenal are also in the mix alongside Liverpool, while Chelsea could look at his profile as the best possible signing for their wings, given their current transfer policy.
Manchester United are also keen, but so far Liverpool and Chelsea appear to be the front-runners from England. The two teams are eager to bolster their wing areas, particularly Liverpool, which might view Diomande as the potential replacement for the departing Mohamed Salah.
Chelsea have also had troubles with their recent recruits in the wide areas, with the likes of Alejandro Garnacho and Jamie Gittens disappointing this term. However, Diomande has had his say on the many media reports, as he commented on the situation to Africa Foot.
Diomande said, “I’m here, and first and foremost, I have my health, and I work hard every day. Hearing these rumours about big clubs like PSG, Chelsea, Liverpool, and others interested in me only motivates me even more. I’m keeping a smile on my face, staying cheerful, and pushing forward.”
“My job is on the pitch, and I’m fully committed to my current club. As for the rest, I have a team that takes care of everything; I don’t stress about it. I play in Leipzig, and I’m enjoying myself.”
Diomande will likely consider the many offers coming his way in the summer, while Leipzig are reportedly demanding a fee close to €100 million. However, there’s the chance of a sale, although Diomande seems relaxed about the situation, as the Bundesliga attacking sensation is widely expected to decide his future after the World Cup.
Bundesliga-based talents have often performed well in the Premier League, and given the level of displays from Diomande, he could be an instant hit here. However, clubs like Liverpool or Chelsea may have to shell out a significant sum to get the winger out of Leipzig, while there could be others in the mix.
