Yankuba Minteh has no regrets over his failed move to Liverpool, as the winger is eager to help Brighton & Hove Albion moving forward.
Liverpool were in search of a new right winger during the summer following the departure of the formidable Mohamed Salah. Replacing the Egyptian was no simple task, and the market responded with heavy fee demands for their reported targets, including Yankuba Minteh.
Liverpool called off their pursuit of Minteh following their inability to convince Brighton & Hove Albion to reduce their asking price. The Merseyside outfit had seemingly wanted the Gambian winger on the basis that they would sell Cody Gakpo. However, their failure to agree a fee with Brighton led them to keep hold of the Dutchman.
Gakpo has so far been in a good vein of form, but that may not stop Liverpool from looking at a new right winger, with suggestions that they could revive a move for Minteh in January.

The Gambian winger has been in the news of late, and now there are some key comments from the winger, who stated that everything happened based on “What God has decided”. Minteh’s comments appeared on Foday Manneh’s post on X, where he claimed to have no regrets over the failed Liverpool move.
Minteh said, “I am focused. I am in Brighton; that is the team I am playing for. That is my team, and I don’t want to talk much about transfers. What God has decided for me, I am happy with it. I am really, really eager to come back and help my team because they are doing good at the moment, but if I come back, I will do my best to help them.”
Minteh’s agent, Baboucarr Fallaboweh, recently stated that his client would be open to joining Liverpool in the near future. The young winger’s comments here suggest that he is happy to help Brighton, as his future could be decided one way or another either in January or next summer.
For now, he is focused on returning to the pitch following a calf injury that has kept him out so far this season. Brighton have had a tremendous start to the campaign, as they comprehensively defeated Premier League champions Arsenal before the international break.
