Thomas Tuchel reflects on Chelsea sacking

Thomas Tuchel has reflected on his sacking from Chelsea, stating the decision came too early, as he might have wanted to stay longer.

Thomas Tuchel was an outside name for the Premier League’s manager of the season last term. The accolade would not have reflected his work on the pitch but off it. The German manager was instrumental in weathering the storm at the club brewed by the sanctions placed by the UK Government.

The Blues got embroiled in a difficult situation following former owner Roman Abramovich’s strong links with Russia following the war on Ukraine. The sanctions had many implications on day-to-day operations, and Tuchel was the man facing the wrath of the media all along.

While Tuchel never won the Manager of the Season accolade, he did gain the respect of many rival fans. As Chelsea weathered the storm and embarked on a notable summer window, the German could get a few players he wanted.

New owner Todd Boehly sacked Tuchel in September after a string of disappointing results. The team’s performance on the pitch wasn’t reflecting on the club’s project and forays into the transfer market. The American supremo replaced the German with Graham Potter, who has had a solid start to his tenure.

After losing his job at Chelsea, Tuchel was recently spotted in India. The German insisted he was there to experience Ayurvedic therapy and took the opportunity to speak with the Indian publication Sportstar. Tuchel’s comments from an interview appeared on The Sun, where the manager stated the end at Chelsea might have come too soon.

Tuchel said, “I loved every day at Chelsea. It came to an end too early for me, but it was out of my hands. This is also what you sign up for.

“It is now time for me to take a break. Some clubs have called my manager, but we agreed he would not call me here for these past 18 days.”

There is significant interest in Tuchel, as recent reports suggested Barcelona were reportedly chasing him to replace Xavi. The German manager is visibly enjoying his break and may take another role after returning to Europe.

For now, there may be a few high-profile vacancies in the market. Tuchel will remain on the shortlist of top clubs if they decide to shop for a new manager.
