SL Benfica have confirmed the sale of their goalkeeping superstar Ederson Moraes to Manchester City in a €40 million deal.

Manchester City have been going about their business with some lightning pace after the end of the season. Bernardo Silva has already agreed a move to the Etihad and SL Benfica have now confirmed that they have reached an agreement with Manchester City for the sale of Ederson.

The player is set to move to Etihad in a €40 million deal, which makes the goalkeeper the second-highest transfer for a player in the said position, the first being Juventus legend Gianluigi Buffon.

The news has been greeted with much gumption across social media platforms. There has been a debate over who the most expensive goalkeeper is, with Buffon edging it in Euros while the Brexit effect means Ederson’s figure becomes the highest in GBP terms.

While some reflected on the potential effect of the deal on De Gea’s asking price, others hinted at City attempting to buy the league.

There were some positive responses as well.
