Lamine Camara has insisted he has “moved on” from his failed deadline day move to Chelsea, while speaking to the media ahead of the club’s Ligue 1 clash with Strasbourg.
The Senegal international was the subject of a late approach from the Blues during the final hours of the summer transfer window. The London club were reportedly on the verge of securing his services, but the proposed switch collapsed before the deadline.
“There was a possibility I could leave. It didn’t go through at the last minute and that’s part of football,” Camara said via Sky Sports.
“It’s part of a professional player’s life. I managed to stay professional and not dwell on it too much. Once it’s happened there’s no point in thinking about it again. Football moves fast, maybe other opportunities will come along. But for now, I’m staying focused on the season with Monaco. I’ve turned the page and am focusing on the season.”
Camara’s determination to move past the disappointment underlines his resolve after what was a chaotic end to the summer transfer window. Chelsea had identified the midfielder as an ideal long-term replacement for Enzo Fernandez, who completed a deadline-day move to Manchester City.
