Nottingham Forest forward Chris Wood has reacted to growing transfer interest in Elliot Anderson.
Elliot Anderson’s future has become a massive talking point on the back of another impressive season with Nottingham Forest in the Premier League. He has been extensively linked with a move away, with Manchester City being the biggest suitors.
His teammate Chris Wood, who squared up against the English midfielder while playing for New Zealand in a friendly ahead of the World Cup, is well aware of all the talk around his future. While speaking to Sky Sports post the game, the New Zealand ace talked about what it would mean if Anderson continued at City Ground.
He said, “It’ll be fantastic if he does [stay], he’s a Forest player still and we want to keep him. What will be, will be. There are higher powers at play.
“He’s outstanding, it showed [tonight]. It was nice to play up against him for the first time and understand what he does. Some of those cutting balls were fantastic.”
Wood was certainly impressed to see his teammate deliver another top performance. However, he was at the receiving end this time around. Anderson, who joined Nottingham in the summer of 2024 from Newcastle, has gone on to establish himself as one of the mainstays at the club. He enjoyed another impressive campaign, as he finished with nine goal contributions in his 50 outings across competitions.
The 23-year-old midfielder is capable enough to contribute on both ends of the pitch. While he prefers playing as a central midfielder, he is equally effective in a holding role. Not only does he have exceptional technical ability, but he also has a strong physical presence. Anderson is considered a complete midfielder, and given his massive potential, there is no shortage of interest in his services.
City retain interest in Elliot Anderson
Manchester City are the club that are quite keen on signing the youngster, and they have already made a failed attempt. However, they haven’t given up just yet and could return with an improved offer for the English international, who is valued at over £100 million by the Tricky Trees.
City have looked vulnerable in the defensive third, and a quality defensive midfielder could certainly help. He could also be a great long-term replacement for Rodri, who has struggled to stay fit of late and has also been linked with a move away.
While convincing the player won’t be a problem, they will certainly have to break the bank to strike a deal with Nottingham. Amidst all the uncertainty around his future, Wood clearly wants his teammate to continue at City Ground.
