Anders Limpar predicts Arsenal exit for Christian Norgaard

Former Arsenal midfielder Anders Limpar believes Christian Norgaard is all set to part ways with the North London club this summer.

Anders Limpar believes Christian Norgaard could leave Arsenal this summer if first-team opportunities remain limited. The Danish international only arrived at Arsenal in 2025 after establishing himself as one of the Premier League’s most reliable midfielders at Brentford.

However, with Arsenal boasting one of the strongest midfield groups in England, breaking into Mikel Arteta’s preferred starting lineup has proven a difficult task, with competition for places remaining fierce. For a player who was doing wonders for the Bees, racking up just over 1,000 minutes in 20 outings is simply not enough.

The situation highlights a challenge for Arsenal. They need to decide whether an experienced midfielder should be kept as squad depth or allowed to pursue regular football elsewhere, making room for a potential new arrival.

Speaking to PariuriX, Limpar suggested that a summer departure could become a realistic possibility, especially if the club adds another midfielder.

“Guimaraes is a top-shelf player. I feel sorry for Nørgaard. He is an incredible player and he couldn’t fight his way into a starting spot. I’m not sure he will stay. Arteta would love to keep him because he will come in for five to ten games and do well,” Limpar said via Tipsbladet.

Norgaard to leave if Arsenal sign a new midfielder

Arsenal have been linked with several midfield reinforcements in recent months, including Newcastle United star Bruno Guimaraes. Should another high-profile arrival come through the door, Limpar believes Norgaard’s chances of securing meaningful minutes would become even slimmer.

“If they buy a new midfielder, they have to let go of Nørgaard. He can do well for any other Premier League team. It’s unfortunate, we have seven players ahead of him in the queue,” Limpar added.

Limpar pointed to the 32-year-old’s successful spell at Brentford as evidence that he remains capable of performing at a high level and argued that there would be no shortage of suitors if he became available.

“Look at what he did for Brentford. That’s why he’s playing for Arsenal now. He’s definitely going to knock on Arteta’s door and ask what’s going on and say: ‘I don’t want to be on the bench next season, and if that’s the case then let me go.’ And then it’s up to Arteta,” Limpar said.

For now, Norgaard remains an Arsenal player, but with the club continuing to assess midfield additions, speculation surrounding his future is unlikely to disappear. If the Gunners further strengthen their midfield rotation, the Danish midfielder must decide whether his future lies away from north London.
