Chelsea could end up parting ways with their Italian manager, Enzo Maresca, after a breakdown in his relationship with the club.
Chelsea have made an official statement to confirm that they have parted ways with Enzo Maresca, as things have not really gone as planned for the Italian manager, both on and off the pitch. His relationship with the club completely broke down; as a result, a decision about his future could be around the corner.
Maresca took charge of the West London club in the summer of 2024, and he had a very impressive debut campaign as he ended up winning the Conference League and the Club World Cup. More importantly, his young team showcased a lot of promise in the league.
Chelsea sack Maresca
The West London club carried that form into the new season, and they were firmly in the title race. Everything was going just fine for them until the end of November, but a rough December has completely changed things up. The situation around the manager has been unpredictable for weeks, and they could end up sacking him in the next hours.
The Blues are holding emergency talks over his position at the club in the new year. With the club winning just one league game in their last seven outings, the fans seem to have lost patience. The Chelsea supporters booed him after their disappointing 2-2 draw against Bournemouth, and he has been sacked before Sunday’s trip to Manchester City.
While results on the pitch have played their part, reports have revealed that the manager’s conduct off it has hampered his relationship with the club. Things started to go downhill after he made cryptic comments about experiencing his “worst 48 hours” at the club following their win over Everton on 13th December.
His comments about many people not supporting him prior to the Everton game also did not go down well with the club. Since he refused to clarify those comments, there seems to be a lot of tension behind the scenes. The fact that Maresca did not speak to the media following their defeat to Bournemouth adds fuel to the fire. Given how things have gone so far, there could be a decision on his future shortly.
