Atletico Madrid will battle it out with Chelsea and Bayern Munich in the race for Arsenal superstar Alexis Sanchez, according to reports

According to AS, Atletico Madrid are still interested in signing Arsenal superstar Alexis Sanchez and are actively monitoring the situation between him and Arsenal with a view to signing the Chilean international this summer.

AS claim that Sanchez is a top priority for Atletico Madrid and that the club will go all out to sign the Arsenal superstar provided FIFA lift the transfer ban that is currently placed on them for this summer, something the club are confident will happen.

Sanchez is currently in the midst of a complicated contractual situation with Arsenal, with the Chilean recently stating he is happy in London although he wants to play for a side that can win major trophies, something Arsenal have failed to do in the recent seasons.

Arsene Wenger, for his part, has said that the club are not worried over the situation with Sanchez – despite the Chilean only having 18 months left on his contract – as they are no longer under financial pressure to sell players, but this has not stopped reports that the club are set to slap a £50 million price tag on their star player.

Widespread reports emerged last week that Chelsea had made Sanchez their top transfer target this summer, with Antonio Conte looking to further strengthen his side as they look to compete on all fronts next season.

Diego Costa could be on his way out of the club and given Sanchez’s ridiculously hard-working nature and explosive ability, he would fit right into Conte’s well-drilled side which defends and attacks as a unit.

Bayern Munich were also said to be monitoring Sanchez‘s situation with a potential summer move on the cards, with Carlo Ancelotti said to be a massive fan of the Chilean superstar. Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery are both 33 years of age and Bayern have begun looking for long-term replacements for their star duo.

Sanchez – who is equally dangerous on the wing – would be a brilliant signing for any top cluband it is no different with Bayern. The German giants would not only be able to afford the price-tag but could also offer Sanchez a much better contract than Arsenal are willing to give him.

Atletico Madrid could lose Antoine Griezmann to Manchester United this summer and with his energetic, skillful displays up front for Arsenal this season it is no surprise Diego Simeone has marked the Chilean as a top priority.

Atletico would also stand to make a huge amount on Antoine Griezmann should they sell him, so they will have no problem paying Arsenal’s asking price should they seriously pursue the Chilean international.
