Barcelona finally ended the curse of the Anoeta Stadium as they beat Real Sociedad 1-0 in the first leg of the Copa Del Rey quarter-final, in a result that saw the Blaugrana take a decisive step towards progressing to the semi-finals with Neymar’s goal in the first half being the difference between the two sides.

It was a performance unlike any other that we’ve grown accustomed to seeing from Barcelona over the years. Luis Enrique’s side were unable to create many chances in the match, but cleverly kept hold of the possession to deny the hosts a sniff at their goal.

And in what was one of the rare chances of scoring a goal on the night, Neymar won and scored a penalty in the 21st minute that proved to be the only goal of the match in the end, thereby ending a 10-year curse as Barcelona finally won at the Anoeta Stadium.
