AC Milan open talks with Chelsea FC for the transfer of Fernando Torres and Marco van Ginkel as Adriano Galliani expresses his desire to sign the duo.
Fernando Torresai??i?? stint at Stamford Bridge could be headed towards its end as AC Milan have stepped up their effort to sign the Spanish striker. The Italian club are also interested in signing Chelsea midfielder Marco van Ginkel on loan.
AC Milan are in the market for a new striker following the departure of Mario Balotelli to Liverpool. A host of names have already been earmarked to replace the Italian striker at San Siro. Jonathan Biabiany, Fabio Borini, Alvaro Negredo, Roberto Soldado and Kostas Mitroglou have all been linked with a move to the Italian club, but Fernando Torres remains their first choice.
The Spaniard, who signed for Chelsea in 2011, has failed to replicate his Liverpool form for the London club and has scored only 45 goals in 172 appearances so far. The London club are reportedly keen to offload the striker as they want to clear up space in the squad for Italian forward Mattia Destro and Milan have opened talks with Chelsea for this transfer.
The Italian club are also keen on signing Chelsea midfielder Marco van Ginkel on loan for this season. The 21-year-old has recovered from the terrible injury he suffered last season and Milan sees him as the perfect solution for their midfield. But reports in England suggest that the Dutch international is not willing to go out on loan and would prefer to stay and fight for his place in the squad at Stamford Bridge.

Milan initially wanted to sign Fernando Torres on loan, but both Chelsea and Torres are interested in a permanent solution. The only stumbling block in this deal could be the Spaniardai??i??s high wages and he will have to take a considerable pay cut to fit into Milanai??i??s pay structure. Milan are hoping to reach a solution quickly as they eye a move for Mitroglou if the transfer of Torres fails to materialize.
