Crystal Palace, Leeds United, and West Ham United are reportedly keen on signing 27-year-old Uruguayan international Santiago Bueno from Wolverhampton Wanderers this summer.
A report by Sport Witness has revealed that Crystal Palace, Leeds United, and West Ham United are interested in Santiago Bueno. The three Premier League clubs are keen on reinforcing their defensive unit by signing a centre-back in the summer transfer window as they aim to move to the top half of the Premier League table next season. They have “made contact over a move” for the Wolverhampton Wanderers defender.
How has Santiago Beuno fared in the Premier League?
Santiago Bueno has been among the most dependable performers for Wolverhampton Wanderers since arriving from Girona in August 2023. While the Black Country outfit struggled in relegation battles in recent seasons and ultimately suffered the drop this term, the 27-year-old has been among the rare bright spots for the team amid several chops and changes.
The Uruguayan international has also played his part in trying to help Wolves avoid relegation, having scored two goals and provided two assists in 25 Premier League outings this term. However, Bueno’s efforts did not yield the desired results, with the team set to drop to the EFL Championship. Nevertheless, his stock remains high, with Crystal Palace, Leeds United, and West Ham United among the prospective suitors vying for his signature.
Will Bueno stay in the Premier League?
Crystal Palace will dip into the market for a centre-back this summer, as they have yet to fill Marc Guehi’s void at the back since he joined Manchester City earlier this year. While Maxence Lacroix has held the fort admirably, the Eagles need more quality at the back. Several candidates have thus emerged on Palace’s wishlist, with Bueno also a viable target.
Meanwhile, Leeds United’s interest in Santiago Bueno makes sense. While Pascal Struijk, Jaka Bijol, and Joe Rodon have been excellent in a back three, Sebastiaan Bornauw faces an uncertain future at Elland Road. So, the Whites have set their sights on several centre-backs, with Bueno now emerging on their wishlist.
As for West Ham United, the Hammers need a centre-back, as it is unclear if they will complete a permanent move for Axel Disasi despite the push for a summer deal.
