Chelsea ready to loan Mathis Amougou to RC Strasbourg after beating Aston Villa and Manchester City

Chelsea could send incoming midfielder Mathis Amougou on loan to sister club Strasbourg in the coming hours.

According to TBR, Chelsea have already made plans for incoming midfielder Mathis Amougou. They are prepared to send the 19-year-old to sister club Strasbourg on loan for the remainder of the season. The Blues are yet to finalise the move, with the outcome above likely to materialise.

Chelsea moved late in the window to secure yet another promising talent for their future teams. This time, they are set to sign Mathis Amougou from St Ettiene in a deal worth a reported £10 million, although there are doubts whether this signing is designed for their first team just yet.

The report stresses that Chelsea had to work hard in the market to secure Amougou’s signature, as Manchester City and Aston Villa were also considered part of the race. The Blues had to beat those Premier League rivals for the 19-year-old midfielder’s signature.

Enzo Maresca may want to add another midfielder to the current pack, making Amougou the last one in the current pecking order. However, that may not be the club’s primary plan, as their interest in the 19-year-old was essentially designed to build for the future.

Hence, Chelsea are considering sending Amougou on loan to sister-club Strasbourg to aid his development and help the French side progress in Ligue 1. The idea seems bright, as the 19-year-old will not leave the more familiar surroundings of France for a sudden change in England. His long-term prospect of playing in Maresca’s first team could be decided based on his performances until the summer.

Chelsea set for a busy end to the transfer window

With the transfer window set to end in a few hours, Chelsea will keep the lights on in their offices as these are busy times ahead. The club are not expected to bring any more signings apart from Amougou, but there are potentially two first-team stars set for loan departures.

Joao Felix is on the verge of joining AC Milan, while Axel Disasi’s future is yet to be made clear as Aston Villa and Tottenham are in the mix. As per the latest update, the French defender is reluctant to join Spurs, but Chelsea does not seem open to dealing with Villa for now.
