AC Milan have an agreement with Chelsea to sign 25-year-old Portuguese forward Joao Felix on loan until the end of the season.
The future of Joao Felix has been one of the biggest talking points on deadline day. The Chelsea forward could secure a late move away from Stamford Bridge as AC Milan are pushing for his signature. According to reputed Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Serie A giants have an agreement to sign him on loan for the remainder of the 2024/24 season.
After spending a significant amount of time out on loan, Felix finally parted ways with Atletico Madrid last summer when Chelsea forked out £45 million to secure his services.
Unfortunately, the permanent move to the London club has not worked out as he has racked up less than 1,000 minutes of first-team action across his 20 appearances despite contributing towards nine goals.
The former Atletico Madrid attacker is frustrated by the lack of game time and the fact that he has only started three Premier League games so far. Joao Felix has been pushing for a move away in search of a more prominent role, and multiple clubs have been battling it out for him.
AC Milan set to win race for Felix
Aston Villa were keen on securing the signature of Joao Felix. Unai Emery’s team were involved in an intense battle with AC Milan. The Serie A club seem to have overtaken them in the race to his signature.
The Rossoneri have parted ways with Alvaro Morata and replaced him by signing Santiago Gimenez from Feyenoord. Despite that, they seek more firepower. Milan want more creativity in the final third, and they feel Felix could certainly help their cause.
After registering their interest in his services, they finally submitted an official loan offer to secure his services until the end of the season. Both clubs have been in direct contact to negotiate a transfer for Joao Felix, and his agent Jorge Mendes is also a part of those discussions.
AC Milan have finally reached an agreement with Chelsea. The Rossoneri have not secured a purchase option, but they will cover his wages and pay a loan fee package worth £5 million. Felix has been pushing to join the Serie A giants, and he is awaiting the green light to travel to Italy for the final part of his transfer.
Villarreal wanted to take Joao Felix back to Spain
While AC Milan are pushing hard for his signature, Villarreal were also keen on his signature as reported by Fichajes. Felix who has spent time at both Atletico and Barcelona could have made a return to Spain on deadline day as Villarreal enquired about his situation.
Unfortunately, they will have to look elsewhere to strengthen their squad as Milan are on the verge of signing. Even if the Italian giants had not agreed a deal with Chelsea, the Spanish club would have still struggled to secure his services as the finances involved would have been beyond their reach.
