AC Milan have opened talks with Chelsea for the signing of Joao Felix, with both teams yet to find an agreement as a move to Aston Villa looks difficult.
According to Florian Plettenberg, AC Milan have opened talks with Chelsea for the signing of Joao Felix ahead of the transfer deadline day. The Rossoneri are eager to bring the Portuguese attacker as a potential replacement for Alvaro Morata, as the 25-year-old Chelsea star’s potential move to Aston Villa now looks in jeopardy.
There’s a burning question about the future of Joao Felix as his future increasingly looks away from Chelsea. The Portuguese attacker has found it difficult to cement a place in Enzo Maresca’s side and is being resigned to a secondary role this season.
He feels the need to play regularly, and had been on the radar of Aston Villa as soon as the Midlands side agreed to let Emiliano Buenda leave for Bayer Leverkusen. Felix was seen as a replacement for the Argentine, as Aston Villa were closing in on the move.
As of the latest update, a move to Aston Villa looks difficult, given Chelsea now views Emery’s side as a direct rival for the top four. Hence, they will oppose any idea of a loan move and will be open to a permanent transfer, as talks between the two sides are ongoing.
AC Milan are also interested in Felix, as TBR reports that talks are underway between the two clubs to find a solution. Chelsea are pushing for a buy obligation to be included in any loan move, as the Rossoneri are eager to use their fantastic relations with Chelsea to get a deal over the line. The two clubs have seen plenty of players change sides with Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Christian Pulisic and Fikayo Tomori among those.
AC Milan to sign Joao Felix?
With Aston Villa likely to bow out of the race given how difficult Chelsea will make the idea of letting Felix join them, Milan could find themselves in pole position for the 25-year-old Chelsea star. The Rossoneri are making some fundamental changes to their attacking setup as Santiago Gimenez is set to arrive while Alvaro Morata looks to be out of the door.
Adding Felix would be seen as beneficial, as he was a player they admired back in the summer before losing out to Chelsea. He could be a solid enough signing, but things will depend on whether Milan can include a buy obligation clause in any loan deal, although the bigger issue will be Chelsea’s asking price.
