Manchester United could miss out on the signature of Michael Olise if they fail to qualify for the UEFA Champions League.

According to a report by Give Me Sport, Michael Olise is the subject of interest from Manchester United. However, the Red Devils are in a spot of bother in the race to sign the 22-year-old, who will likely join a club playing in the UEFA Champions League if he leaves Crystal Palace in the summer transfer window. The young attacker has a release clause of £60 million in his contract.

Michael Olise and his rise at Crystal Palace

Michael Olise has established himself as one of the best young players in the Premier League since joining Crystal Palace from Reading in July 2021. A native of London, he has represented France at the youth level while passing through the academies at Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester City.

The 22-year-old has struggled with a few fitness issues in the past year but has shown his quality whenever he has been on the pitch. Olise has a solid tally of six goals and three assists in only 13 Premier League games this season. Meanwhile, the youngster signed a new contract with Crystal Palace in August 2023, with the deal having a release clause worth £60 million.

Olise’s progress at Crystal Palace has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs. A move across the Premier League might be on the cards, with Manchester United and Chelsea vying for the signature of the Crystal Palace attacker. However, his next destination will be a club playing in the UEFA Champions League. That leaves Manchester United and Chelsea in a spot of bother.

Big move beckons?

Manchester United’s interest in Michael Olise is understandable. The Red Devils have a long-standing right-wing problem that neither Jadon Sancho nor Antony has solved. So, the Crystal Palace winger is an option worth considering, with Manchester United identifying him as a top target.

As for Chelsea, the Blues do not necessarily need a wide attacker. However, with Mykhailo Mudryk failing to make his mark since arriving from Shakhtar Donetsk and Noni Madueke yet to become a regular, Olise is a viable target.

Recent reports have placed Manchester United higher in Olise’s preference list than Chelsea. However, with the £60 million-rated forward keen on playing in the UEFA Champions League, neither club might manage to sign him from Crystal Palace in the summer transfer window.
