Crystal Palace playmaker Michael Olise would reportedly prefer to join Manchester United instead of Chelsea.

According to a report by TEAMtalk, Michael Olise has made up his mind about his next destination. Chelsea and Manchester United are interested in signing the 22-year-old Crystal Palace playmaker. But he prefers the Red Devils over the West London club as his next club.

The Michael Olise Story

Michael Olise has established himself as one of the best young playmakers in the Premier League since joining Crystal Palace. The French under-21 international spent his formative years with Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester United but graduated from the Reading youth division a few years ago.

The 22-year-old has risen in prominence since joining Crystal Palace from Reading in July 2021. But he has struggled with a few fitness issues in the last 12 months and is currently on the sidelines with a hamstring injury. However, Olise has enjoyed a solid 2023/24 campaign thus far, amassing six goals and three assists in 11 appearances.

Meanwhile, the youngster’s progress at Crystal Palace has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs in the Premier League. Chelsea and Manchester United are among his potential destinations heading into the summer transfer window.

Chelsea, Manchester United Want Olise

Chelsea considered re-signing Michael Olise last summer, but a move did not materialise. The Blues remain keen on the 22-year-old heading into the summer transfer window this year. But the continued interest in the young playmaker is surprising, considering the stacked midfield and offensive units. Nevertheless, they will look to secure his services ahead of the 2024/25 season.

However, Olise does not want to rejoin Chelsea in the summer transfer and prefers a move to Manchester United instead. The Red Devils have been keen on signing the French under-21 international for several months. And Manchester United’s new minority owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, recently approved a move for the youngster.

So, with Manchester United having an advantage in the race to sign the 22-year-old Crystal Palace playmaker, they will likely fancy their chances of beating Chelsea to his signature. But it will be interesting to see if the Blues can turn the player’s head in the coming months.
