Newcastle United eyeing Dani Ceballos swoop

Newcastle United are reportedly keen on signing Dani Ceballos from Real Madrid in the summer transfer window.

According to Defensa Central, Premier League side Newcastle United could offer Real Madrid star Dani Ceballos a shot at securing regular playtime in the summer transfer window.

The 27-year-old is currently in his peak years but has largely had to warm the bench at the Santiago Bernabeu. Ceballos arrived at the capital club from Real Betis in 2017 but has since made just 141 appearances for the club, scoring seven goals and assisting another 13. His numbers might not be abysmal but are certainly underwhelming.

Real Madrid have been quietly yet surely putting together a young side that can remain dominant for years to come. Given the midfield roster at Carlo Ancelotti’s disposal, there is little chance of the Spaniard being offered a key role anytime soon.

Atletico Madrid are linked with the midfielder, but Newcastle United have been keeping tabs on him for some time now. The Magpies’ efforts were always met with a swift refusal, but things have since changed at Real Madrid. The Spanish giants are now ready to do business should the Tyneside club make an offer.

The Premier League is not unfamiliar to Ceballos who had a moderately successful season on loan at Arsenal. Eddie Howe’s side have failed to hit the heights of last season but could once again challenge for a top-four spot should they get their act together next summer.

The future of Bruno Guimaraes is up in the air, while Joelinton’s contract expires at the end of the 2024/25 season. Given the latest revelations regarding Sandro Tonali, it is imperative that the Tyneside outfit reinforce their options in the middle of the park.

Ceballos certainly might not be a difference maker but is a reliable player who is in need of a club and a manager who can help him resurrect his career. Newcastle United might not be landing themselves a match-winner. But there is enough in the Spaniard for them to mould into a reliable first team star. Whether Tyneside beckons for the 27-year-old remains to be seen.
