Manchester City are determined to beat Real Madrid and Chelsea in a race to the signatures of Newcastle United mainstay Bruno Guimaraes.

According to a report by Fichajes, Manchester City want to reinforce their midfield ahead of next season. Newcastle United’s Bruno Guimaraes is at the top of their list of targets as they look to rebuild their core. While Real Madrid and Chelsea are also keen on his signatures, the treble winners are determined to win the race.

Guimaraes has been a consistent performer for Newcastle since joining them in the winter of 2022. He was one of their initial marquee signings after the takeover. The Brazil international has managed to establish himself as a mainstay in the team on the back of his impressive display.

He was on another level last season, the 26-year-old defensive midfielder played a big part in their impressive run which saw them return to the Champions League. While the ongoing season hasn’t been that great, Guimaraes has still been one of their best performers.

European giants keen on the Brazil international

His work hasn’t gone unnoticed. Real Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester City are three top clubs keen on his signatures. Los Blancos are always on the lookout for players who can help them maintain their dominance and with Luka Modric likely to leave, they do need another midfielder. The Brazilian can surely be a great addition to their already strong midfield.

While Chelsea have forked out a fortune on signing two defensive midfielders Moises Caicedo and Enzor Fernandez, things haven’t clicked for the Blues. They feel the need for another addition in the centre of the park and Guimaraes is someone they admire.

City desperate to have Bruno Guimaraes in their ranks

Despite interest from Madrid and Chelsea, City are determined to have him in their ranks. While the operation will surely cost over €100 million, Pep Guardiola wants him in his ranks at all costs and the treble winners will give it their all to fulfil their manager’s desire.

The Spanish manager is always on the lookout for ways to further improve his team and maintain their high standards. While they do have Rodri in their ranks, Guardiola still feels the need for another defensive midfielder and Guimaraes is his priority.

Despite the high market value and interest from City, Madrid and Chelsea, the Magpies have no intentions of sanctioning his departure unless a record offer arrives at their doorstep. As a result, City will have to break the bank to sign him.
