West Ham United abandoned move for Ibrahim Osman for this reason

West Ham United in advanced talks to sign Ibrahim Osman.

West Ham United were keen on signing 19-year-old Ghanaian prodigy Ibrahim Osman from FC Nordsjaelland in January.

Football Insider have revealed that West Ham United pulled out of a January deal for 19-year-old attacking prodigy Ibrahim Osman after Nordsjaelland raised the asking price at the last minute.

West Ham reportedly submitted offers of around £13 million for the attacker, but they were unwilling to accept their payment structure for the player. The attacker eventually will end up joining Brighton and Hove Albion this summer.

He will stay with the Danish club until the end of the season and then join up with his new club in the summer. Brighton are reportedly paying a fee of around £16 million for the talented young attacker. Clubs like Tottenham and Arsenal were keen on the player before he was sold to Brighton.

It is no secret that West Ham United need to improve their attacking options, and they should look to sign a quality striker at the end of the season. Michail Antonio is well past their peak, and Danny Ings has been quite unreliable in terms of availability. They need to invest in a reliable goalscorer, and it remains to be seen whether the Hammers can bring in a quality addition.

They have already improved their squad significantly after the departure of Declan Rice. Players like Mohammed Kudus have improved them going forward. But they need someone who can lead the line for them and score goals consistently.

West Ham are currently pushing for European qualification, and if they manage to secure Europa League qualification for the next season, they will be an attractive destination for most players.

The Hammers managed to win the UEFA Europa Conference League last season. It is evident that West Ham are on the up, and they will look to continue building the squad in the coming months as well so that they can compete for trophies in the coming seasons.

West Ham might regret Osman decision

Osman is highly rated across Europe, and he has a big future ahead of him. He could develop into a key player for Brighton with the right coaching. If he manages to fulfill his potential in the coming seasons, the £16 million outlay could look like a major bargain. West Ham will certainly hope that they do not regret their decision to abandon a move for the player in January for a few millions.
