Premier League heavyweights Liverpool are reportedly tracking the progress of 22-year-old Crystal Palace attacker Michael Olise, a target for Chelsea.

According to a report by Football Insider, Michael Olise is the subject of interest from Liverpool. The Reds are closely monitoring the progress of the 22-year-old attacker at fellow Premier League club Crystal Palace. The youngster has also been a target for Chelsea for several months.

The Rise of Michael Olise

Michael Olise has come leaps and bounds since joining Crystal Palace from Reading in July 2021. A former trainee in Chelsea and Manchester City’s famed youth divisions, the youngster has been eligible to represent England and France on the international stage. But he has preferred the latter thus far, becoming a French under-21 international last year.

Meanwhile, Olise has been a pivotal figure for Crystal Palace in the last two and a half years. The 22-year-old has been one of the rare bright spots for the Eagles in their dreadful 2023/24 campaign thus far, amassing five goals and one assist in nine appearances. Meanwhile, the player’s progress has not gone unnoticed.

Chelsea had been keen on re-signing Michael Olise in the summer transfer window, activating his release clause to prise him away from Crystal Palace. In addition, he was also a target for Premier League champions Manchester City. But the youngster signed a new contract with the Eagles. However, interest in his services remains high, with Liverpool joining the chase.

Liverpool Enter Michael Olise Chase

The Reds sent their top scouts to watch the 22-year-old attacker in action in a recent Premier League match against Brentford. Liverpool’s interest is hardly surprising, considering Mohamed Salah faces an uncertain future at Anfield. So, they must scour the market for a long-term replacement if a Saudi Pro League club can land the Liverpool talisman.

But the Merseyside club might face stiff competition from Chelsea, with the Blues reportedly still interested. Chelsea reportedly agreed to personal terms with Olise in the summer. So, the youngster’s decision to sign a new contract came as a blow for them. However, it is unclear why the Blues still need to sign Olise, considering the offensive options in Mauricio Pochettino’s squad.

Crystal Palace will likely demand a premium to part ways with Michael Olise next year, considering he is on a long-term contract. It will be interesting to see if Chelsea or Liverpool can secure his services.
