Journalist rules out Liverpool move for Victor Osimhen

Italian journalist Salvatore Biazzo categorically rules out Liverpool’s chances to sign Victor Osimhen due to financial reasons.

According to Siamoil Napoli, Italian journalist Salvatore Biazzo laughed off Liverpool’s chances of signing Victor Osimhen. The 24-year-old Serie A winner has come under the transfer scanner recently owing to multiple issues at Napoli, as the reporter also names other teams that might have an interest.

If Aurelio De Laurentiis will fight to keep a player at Napoli, it will certainly be Victor Osimhen. The Napoli supremo recently evaded a major storm with the 24-year-old Serie A winner after a controversial TikTok video irked the Nigerian frontman.

Coming at the back of a title-winning campaign, Osimhen has not been at his best for Napoli. There are other issues surrounding the club on the playing field, something De Laurentiis hopes to resolve in the coming weeks. For now, he will look for ways to keep the 24-year-old at the club amid growing interest in the frontman.

For a striker of his quality, Napoli are certainly not thinking about entertaining January bids. There are a host of clubs keen on the striker, and they will know his ever-increasing price tag. Logically, an interested party must pay over the odds in the next window to get him, although things will appear much easier in the summer.

Osimhen’s contract ends in 2025, and Napoli could cash in on him. As things stand, there are few chances for De Laurentiis to think the 24-year-old Serie A winner will sign a new contract. The pressure continues to mount amid top clubs keeping a close eye on the Nigerian.

Former Chelsea man and Osimhen’s compatriot, Jon Obi Mikel, recently urged the 24-year-old to join his old club. The Blues have remained in the hunt for a new striker and might find themselves in a position to splash big on the Napoli star.

There’s also strong interest from Liverpool, although Jurgen Klopp may not need a centre-forward for now. Yet, the Reds might see this as a huge market opportunity and make a move if the conditions are right, especially with the finances.

Now, Italian journalist Salvatore Biazzo has laughed off Liverpool’s potential chances of signing Osimhen. He has cited finances as the main reason for discounting the Merseysiders. He said, “We need to understand how Osimhen is psychologically after these family events. Now, they also have to deal with the injury. De Laurentiis will want to follow his little gem closely because there are various problems around.

“Liverpool? In the Premier League, there is a merciless fight between different teams with, Arsenal, City and Tottenham. Liverpool are a historic team and could want a striker like Osimhen. But I see the financial exposure of English clubs and Liverpool are placed high in the ranking of those who have debts.”

Liverpool did make big commitments during the summer to sign Mouises Caicedo, which showed they have the money. Signing Osimhen would be a different game altogether. The 24-year-old will have some of the richest clubs chasing his signature.

As much as an attractive destination Liverpool are, they do not possess the financial muscle of Chelsea or Manchester City. Even Arsenal and Tottenham have shown recently they have renewed power and backing to make expensive signings. The Reds currently lack that and could struggle to sign from the same pool as Osimhen.
