Jon Obi Mikel urged compatriot Victor Osimhen to join Chelsea, as his former club are interested in the Napoli star.

Jon Obi Mikel has urged Victor Osimhen to join Chelsea, as per Nigerian outlet Naijapr. The Napoli star has had stable interest from Premier League sides after a stellar season in Italy, with Chelsea among those very keen on signing the 24-year-old Serie A winner.

If Napoli decides to sell Victor Osimhen, they will not have a shortage of interested clubs queuing up for the 24-year-old Serie A winner. The Nigerian was instrumental in the club’s quest for the Scudetto last season, as the title winners continue to hold him up as their most prized asset.

Yet, in recent weeks, things have not seemed right within the corridors of Napoli following Osimhen’s row over a TikTok video. Things have calmed down since, but during that period, the media has ignited transfer speculation that may not go away for a while.

A host of clubs are keen on signing Osimhen if he becomes available. With his current deal expiring in 2025 and in the absence of a new contract, things could get moving next summer as a result. Osimhen had previously idolised Didier Drogba, which makes Chelsea a real contender.

Chelsea had held a solid interest in Osimhen during his debacle with Napoli, as some reports suggested the Blues might make a January approach. The Serie A side are unlikely to entertain anything in that window, although their stance might change during the summer depending on the circumstances.

Now, former Chelsea star Jon Obi Mikel has urged Osimhen to join Chelsea if he gets an opportunity and lives his dream. The Blues are in need of a top-draw striker to lead their line, as their current stars like Nicolas Jackson have failed to shine this season.

Chelsea are looking at different options for the No.9 role, with several names discussed in the last few weeks. There’s a feeling they will do their best to land a new striker in January, but Mikel hopes it’s Osimhen who arrives here.

Osimhen’s arrival here depends on multiple factors, including Chelsea’s ability to qualify for the Champions League. Teams like Arsenal are also keen on the 24-year-old Serie A winner, and they stand a better chance as things stand, considering the Blues are well below in the Premier League standings after eight games.
