Chelsea are ready to battle it out with Real Madrid for the signatures of 24-year-old Nigerian international Victor Osimhen.

According to CalcioMercato via Sport Witness, Chelsea are keen on acquiring the services of Victor Osimhen. The Blues are looking to once again go hard in the transfer market and this time they want to sign Napoli’s 24-year-old sensation who is also on the radar of Manchester United and Real Madrid.

Osimhen has been on fire over the past 18 months. He has taken his game to another level and at this point in time, he is amongst the best forwards in world football. As a result, the amount of interest in him is quite understandable.

The 24-year-old joined the Naples-based club back in the summer of 2020. He has gone from strength to strength since. Last season, he was one of the most important players for the Italian club as they ended their three-decade-long wait for the league title. Osimhen had 31 goal contributions in the Serie A and he was a big reason for their dominant run in the Italian top flight.

He has carried his form into the new season and has already found the back of the net six times. His impressive performances over the past two seasons have attracted attention from some of the biggest clubs in Europe. Chelsea are one of the clubs keen on having him in their ranks.

The Blues have struggled to score goals over the past 18 months. Despite having spent a fortune on new signings, they have failed to get their act together in the final third of the pitch. While the situation has improved over the past few matches, signing a top striker still remains their priority.

The London club want to sign a world-class striker and they feel Osimhen could be a great fit for the club. The Blues are ready to go all out to land him at the club. With his contract expiring in 2025 and no talks of an extension at this point, a move away from the club next summer seems to be the most likely option. However, such a transfer would cost well over €100 million.

While Chelsea can surely manage to pay such a huge fee, they are not the only ones in the race. Even Real Madrid are interested in the 24-year-old. Los Blancos opted against signing a new number nine this summer despite the departure of Karim Benzema.

But, they are expected to push for a new striker next summer and Osimhen is one of the names on their list of targets. As a result, Chelsea will have to be at their best if they want to beat Los Blancos to the signatures of the Nigerian international.
