Arsenal in talks to loan Kieran Tierney to Real Sociedad

Arsenal could hold talks with Real Sociedad to find a solution to Kieran Tierney’s future, as the left-back could leave on loan.

As per The Athletic, Kieran Tierney could yet leave Arsenal on a loan deal, as the Gunners could hold talks with Real Sociedad. The 26-year-old outcast has not featured in the matchday squads for the season’s opening two games, which has fueled speculation regarding his future.

Arsenal are set to make a few critical decisions before the transfer window shuts, as Edu Gaspar continues giving his undivided attention to outgoings. There are several players in this squad that could leave, with 26-year-old outcast Kieran Tierney one of those.

Speculation surrounding the Scottish left-back had been rife since the summer window opened, with Newcastle United heavily linked with a move. The Magpies have since signed Lewis Hall from Chelsea and closed the door on the Arsenal man.

West Ham had also shown an interest, and they could yet return with an approach if the conditions seem favourable. Arsenal had hoped to make a statement sale with the left back, and so far, they have failed to find the proper suitor.

With a few years left on his deal, could they allow Tierney to move out on loan? Real Sociedad had come with an inquiry a few weeks ago, but the Gunners weren’t interested in a temporary deal then. After not being a part of their matchday squad for consecutive games, the 26-year-old outcast could look for a way out to play regularly elsewhere.

At one stage, Arsenal were reportedly open to keeping him, and that was before Jurrien Timber suffered a severe injury. With the Dutchman likely to miss the entire season, Mikel Arteta may rely upon Tierney to provide cover in games.

However, some solid reports insist Arsenal are open to a sale irrespective of Timber’s absence. At one point, Celtic seemed like the only avenue for Tierney, although multiple doors could open between now and the end of the window.

Real Sociedad have maintained an interest and could open talks with the Gunners to determine a loan agreement. Arsenal would certainly prefer to sell him outright at their asking price but could entertain temporary offers if it comes with a buy option or obligation.

Some stories suggest Aston Villa could also come in for the 26-year-old outcast if they lose Lucas Digne. Similarly, West Ham are somewhat in the mix, along with Sociedad and Celtic. Overall, there’s sufficient interest in the left back, but are these teams capable of paying what Arsenal needs for Tierney?
