West Ham United are closing in on the signatures of 25-year-old VfB Stuttgart centre-back Konstantinos Mavropanos.

According to a report by the Football Insider, West Ham United are all set to complete the signing of Konstantinos Mavropanos from VfB Stuttgart in the next 24 hours. There is an agreement between all parties regarding the transfer, and it will be official in the near future. The latest update comes in the wake of suggestions that he had failed his medical checks.

Mavropanos has been linked with a move to West Ham for quite a while now. And, the Hammers were in talks with the club as well as the players’ agents over a potential deal. They managed to reach an agreement with the player as well as the club and he was all set to make the move to London.

But, this is when reports started to emerge that the deal had collapsed. There was speculation that he had failed his medical. However, in reality, he has successfully completed his medical with the Hammers and is all set to return to the English top flight.

Mavropanos made quite a name for himself very early on in his career, and it resulted in a move to Arsenal back in the winter of 2018. While he did join the Gunners, the 25-year-old spent the majority of his time out on loan. Throughout his time at Arsenal, he only made eight first-team appearances.

Things were not really working out for him in England, and he decided to join VfB Stuttgart on a two season-long loan with an option to buy. The Greece international managed to put in some impressive performances for the Bundesliga club, and his move was made permanent last summer.

He has featured in a total of 89 matches for Stuttgart and has managed to revive his career. After impressive performances for the Bundesliga club over the past few seasons, West Ham are keen on having him in their ranks.

Their manager David Moyes is looking to bolster his defence and he believes adding the 25-year-old will provide cover and competition for first-choice centre-backs Kurt Zouma and Nayef Aguerd.

There is an agreement between all parties over a transfer with the Hammers ready to pay £17 million for the former Gunners defender. While everything is sorted, a few minor details are been taken care of, post that, the deal will be signed off and there will be an official announcement of the transfer.
