West Ham United are considering a move for Konstantinos Mavropanos from Stuttgart, with the Greek defender likely to cost €18 million.

According to Kicker, West Ham United hold considerable interest in Konstantinos Mavropanos from Stuttgart. The Greek defender has become an option after the Hammers pulled out of the agreement for Harry Maguire, with David Moyes now keen on the former Arsenal defender.

One would remember Konstantinos Mavropanos for his brief time with Arsenal during Arsene Wenger’s last season. He made decent strides early on, but niggling injury troubles kept him sidelined for considerable periods, eventually leading to an exit.

VfB Stuttgart moved permanently after some loans around Germany, paying around €3 million to Arsenal. Since signing for the Bundesliga side, Mavropanos has become a regular and experienced considerable growth in stature.

Today, he is a solid centre-back with pace and height to add to his attributes, making him an attractive prospect. The report mentions potential interest from Napoli early on, but the 25-year-old Bundesliga defender wants a return to England, where he may have unfinished business.

West Ham are the club keen to sign Mavropanos from Stuttgart, with the Bundesliga club open to selling for €18 million. The price tag may resonate with the Hammers, who had earlier agreed on a £30 million fee for Harry Maguire.

The failure to close the deal for the English defender caused the Hammers to re-enter the market for a centre-back. Despite agreeing on a fee, West Ham sensed some issues convincing the defender to sign the contract, leading to the Hammers cooling their interest.

They had considered a move for Bayer Leverkusen’s Odilon Kossounou as an alternative to Maguire, but that may have been a rumour. Many other names could also come into the mix as we enter the final phase of the transfer window.

From a profile perspective, Mavropanos may entice David Moyes into looking at him to fit into his system. The 25-year-old Bundesliga defender has many attributes that could benefit the Hammers in the current season, and the €18 million price tag seems within range for the London club.

Hence, a move could materialise if West Ham accelerates their approach for the 25-year-old Greek star. He has considerable experience playing in Germany, which could prove helpful when returning to the Premier League, where Mavropanos has a point to prove.
