Aston Villa exploring a move for Nuno Tavares

Unai Emery’s Aston Villa are looking to push for the services of the 23-year-old Arsenal full-back Nuno Tavares.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Aston Villa are interested in the services of Nuno Tavares. The 23-year-old is unlikely to continue at Arsenal and is open to a move away from the club.

Tavares had an impressive loan spell at Marseille last season and on the back of it, Nottingham Forest were keen on acquiring his services. But, they have failed to strike a deal with Arsenal and the move has collapsed.

With Nottingham Forest no longer in the picture, Aston Villa have started exploring ways to land the 23-year-old at the club. Villa are looking for a new left-sided full-back and he is one of the names on their list.

With Lucas Digne’s future uncertain and Alex Moreno injured, Unai Emery is desperate for a new full-back. His priority is to sign Sevilla’s Marcos Acuna and the talks are underway. But, if they fail to land the 31-year-old at the club, Villa will go hard for the 23-year-old Portuguese youth international.

While on loan at the French club last season, Tavares featured in a total of 39 matches and was on the pitch for over 3,000 minutes. He even contributed with six goals. Despite his impressive loan spell, the 23-year-old has no future at Arsenal.

He is behind the likes of Oleksandr Zinchenko and Kieran Tierney in the pecking order. Mikel Arteta cannot promise him enough game time. As a result, they are ready to offload the Portuguese youth international who still has two years left on his deal with the club.

According to Romano, Aston Villa have started making moves to sign the 23-year-old. They are exploring the conditions needed to acquire his services from Arsenal. While personal terms haven’t been discussed yet, they might not be that big a headache.

Both clubs are expected to hold talks over a potential transfer. And, if Villa manage to strike a deal with the Gunners, they will most likely persuade the 23-year-old who is likely to get a lot of minutes under Unai Emery.
