Arsenal, Tottenham ready to offer £45 million to sign Marc Guehi

Manchester United told to pay £60 million for Marc Guehi.

Arsenal and Tottenham are willing to pay £45 million to sign Mar Guehi, with the 22-year-old English centre-back coming in for high demand.

According to Fichajes, Arsenal and Tottenham could pay around £45 million to sign Marc Guehi in the summer. After two impressive seasons with Crystal Palace, the 22-year-old English centre-back has come in for high demand.

After two seasons with Crystal Palace, Marc Guehi has established himself as one of the leading centre-backs in the Premier League. The 22-year-old English centre-back made a huge decision to join the Eagles from Chelsea, which has paid off in a big way.

During this period, he has also made his full England debut and remains at the top of Gareth Southgate’s list of alternatives. Whatever happens on that front, he does look primed for a promising career. Despite spending only two seasons at the top level, he has big interest coming from elsewhere.

Crystal Palace would like to keep hold of Guehi for the longer term; they might consider defeat if the player wishes to play elsewhere. Arsenal and Tottenham are two big clubs vying for his signature, and the time may have arrived for a big career decision.

The two north London giants are willing to pay £45 million for the 22-year-old English centre-back. The report claims Palace would want around £65 million, but a deal could happen for a lower figure. Considering the longer-term future, the £45 million tag seems reasonable in this market.

Arsenal are reportedly interested in Guehi as Mikel Arteta wants to strengthen his defence. The Spanish manager wants a player who he can rely on to put in big performances every week and in all competitions. This season, he has relied heavily on William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes while unable to rotate regularly.

Rob Holding has not provided the defensive security needed for a title-chasing team so the Englishman could depart in the summer. Someone like Guehi could take on a more prominent role and help Arteta with regular rotations. As they return to the Champions League, Arsenal would need that kind of depth.

Meanwhile, Tottenham are also interested in Guehi as they step up the search for defensive reinforcements. Spurs have fallen off their quality very much this season, and much of the blame pinned on their backline.

Defensively, Tottenham have been abject this season, hence the need to sign new centre-backs. Spurs are also looking at other options in the market, with names like Gleison Bremer linked with them. They might prefer Premier League experience. So the 22-year-old English centre-back makes sense.

While Palace will try to keep him on board, a large offer could force their hand. Guehi might consider swapping his starting spot for a more rotational role on either London side. Yet, it could prove a step up in his career, one he might relish.
