Manchester United initiate discussions with Vitor Roque

Athletico Paranaense forward Vitor Roque has been linked with a move away from the Brazilian club at the end of the season.

A report from Globo Esporte claims that Manchester United are keen on signing the 18-year-old forward. And they have initiated discussions to sign the talented attacker.

The 18-year-old can operate as a centre-forward as well as a winger, and his versatility will be an added bonus for Manchester United if they manage to secure his services.

The Red Devils certainly need to add more quality and depth to their front three. Marcus Rashford has been leading the line for Manchester United this season, but the England international is more suited to a wide role.

While Rashford has been in splendid form this year, Manchester United cannot rely on him to bail them out every week. The Red Devils will be hoping to challenge for major trophies next season and they need to have more options at their disposal.

The 18-year-old Brazilian could prove to be a solid, long-term investment and he has the potential to develop into a key player for Manchester United in the coming season. He is rated highly in South America and he is regarded as one of the best young prospects to have come out of Brazil in recent years.

Apparently, clubs like Barcelona and Chelsea are keen on signing the player as well. Both teams need to bring in a quality goalscorer and the 18-year-old certainly fits the profile.

Barcelona are hoping to bring in a long-term alternative to Robert Lewandowski and Chelsea need to bring in a reliable goalscorer and replace the underperforming Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The report from Globo claims that the Brazilian club value the player at around €42 million and all three clubs certainly have the means to afford that.

It will be interesting to see where the 18-year-old ends up eventually. He needs to join the club but he will get ample first-team action. Roque cannot afford to sit on the bench at the top club as it will affect his development negatively.

Joining Manchester United could prove to be a wise move. Erik ten Hag has a proven track record of improving young players and he could help the 18-year-old fulfil his potential at old Trafford.
