Real Madrid will reportedly battle La Liga rival Sevilla in the race to sign Spanish striker Raul de Tomas, valued at €30 million by Espanyol.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Raul de Tomas is the subject of interest from La Liga giants Sevilla over a possible move in the summer transfer window. The Spanish striker, valued at €30 million by Espanyol, is keen on joining Real Madrid, with Borussia Dortmund also monitoring his situation.

Raul de Tomas has found a stable footing for the first time in his professional career since joining Espanyol from Benfica over two years ago. While the 27-year-old did not have the best start at the Catalan club due to their relegation from La Liga, he guided the Periquitos back to the top flight in the 2020/21 season.

The Real Madrid academy graduate then enjoyed a solid 2021/22 season, amassing 17 goals and three assists in 34 La Liga appearances. And de Tomas has now reached a crossroads in his career, as he is keen on joining a bigger club, with his preferred destination being Real Madrid. And La Liga giants Sevilla have now emerged in the race to sign the Spanish striker.

Sevilla will likely sell Munir El Haddadi and Youssef En-Nesyri in the summer transfer window while looking to replace them with at least one striker. Several attackers, including Real Madrid forward Mariano Diaz, have thus emerged on Sevilla’s radar, with de Tomas a viable target for the Andalusian outfit.

But de Tomas is keen on returning to Real Madrid this summer and will prioritise rejoining Los Blancos over his other suitors. The Spanish giants are in a spot of bother over the long-term futures of Mariano and Marco Asensio. And with Borja Mayoral joining Getafe permanently, Real Madrid might have to consider signing a striker this summer.

Raul de Tomas is thus an option worth considering for the Spanish giants, but widespread reports have claimed they do not want to re-sign the Spanish striker. That should give Sevilla the impetus to prise the 27-year-old away from fellow La Liga club Espanyol, who will demand €30 million to sell their prized possession.

Meanwhile, Borussia Dortmund will also compete with Sevilla in the €30 million race to sign Raul de Tomas, with the Bundesliga giants in the market for a cover for Sebastien Haller. It will be interesting to see how this story develops, with de Tomas open to leaving Espanyol this summer.
