Barcelona and Liverpool have reportedly joined Manchester United, Real Madrid, and others in the race to sign Benjamin Sesko from Red Bull Salzburg.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Benjamin Sesko is one of the hottest properties in the market in the summer transfer window. Several European bigwigs are hot on the heels of the Red Bull Salzburg prodigy, including Barcelona, Real Madrid, Liverpool, and Manchester United.

Benjamin Sesko has the world at his feet despite still being in his teens. The Slovenian striker has gone from strength to strength since joining Red Bull Salzburg from NK Domzale nearly three years ago, becoming a regular for the Austrian giants last season.

The 19-year-old has started the 2022/23 season superbly, scoring twice and providing one assist in three appearances thus far this season. Sesko’s performances have not gone unnoticed, with several high-profile clubs, including Barcelona, Real Madrid, Liverpool and Manchester United, setting their sights on him.

The interest from Barcelona is surprising, considering they have secured Robert Lewandowski’s services this summer. With Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang performing brilliantly since arriving at Camp Nou earlier this year, the Catalan giants do not need to sign Sesko right away. But the 19-year-old is a viable target for Barcelona, keeping the long-term future in mind.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid will look to bring in Sesko as a long-term successor for Karim Benzema, with the Frenchman well into his thirties. And recent reports have claimed that the Slovenian prodigy wants to join Real Madrid when he leaves Red Bull Salzburg in the near future.

As for Liverpool, the Reds will see Roberto Firmino depart from Anfield sooner or later, bringing Sesko into the picture. While Sesko will not be a like-for-like replacement for the Brazilian forward, he can be the alternative for Darwin Nunez. Interestingly, the Slovenian forward made an impression during a recent friendly against Liverpool, scoring the game’s only goal.

The 19-year-old is also a target for Manchester United, with the Red Devils reportedly preparing an offer to sign him. Edinson Cavani departed from Old Trafford as a free agent last month, while Cristiano Ronaldo wants to leave Manchester United following their failure to qualify for the UEFA Champions League.

Apart from Barcelona, Real Madrid, Liverpool and Manchester United, Atletico Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, and Chelsea also want to sign Sesko. So with the race to sign the teenage whizkid heating up, it will be interesting to see what the future has in store for him.
