Robert Lewandowski is reportedly demanding a three-year contract to join Barcelona from Bayern Munich in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Spanish publication SPORT, Robert Lewandowski has made his terms clear to join Barcelona in the summer transfer window. The Bayern Munich striker is demanding a three-year contract to move to Camp Nou ahead of the 2022/23 season.

Robert Lewandowski has carved out a place for himself in sporting folklore after years of excellence on the pitch. The Polish international has been breaking records for fun over the last few seasons, having transformed into a goal machine since joining Bayern Munich from Borussia Dortmund nearly eight years ago.

The 33-year-old is not slowing down one bit, amassing a mind-boggling tally of 45 goals and four assists in 39 appearances across all competitions this season. But Lewandowski’s long-term future is of grave concern for Bayern Munich, as he has a little over a year left on his contract, with negotiations over a renewal stalled. Such a situation has captured the attention of Barcelona.

Barcelona will have to delve into the market for a striker in the summer transfer window, as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will likely be the only natural striker at Xavi Hernandez’s disposal ahead of the 2022/23 season. That is because Martin Braithwaite might seek a new challenge after becoming a bit-part player this term for Barcelona.

In addition, Luuk de Jong will return to Sevilla for good when his loan deal expires at the end of the ongoing season. Barcelona will thus need to invest in a striker in the summer transfer window, with Lewandowski emerging as a key target after it became clear that the Blaugrana cannot compete with Manchester City and Real Madrid in the race to sign Erling Haaland.

Recent reports have also claimed that the two parties have agreed to a deal in principle following positive talks. And Lewandowski is asking for a three-year contract to complete a move from Bayern Munich to Barcelona, as he reckons he still has a lot to offer before he endures a decline.

The Pole reportedly has a two-year contract offer on his table, meaning Barcelona will need to lodge a new bid to clinch his signature. For now, though, what seems certain is that Lewandowski is ready to leave Bayern Munich to join Barcelona, with minor details left to be sorted to complete the transfer.
