Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal are reportedly among the clubs interested in securing the services of PSG midfielder Leandro Paredes.

A recent report from Calciomercato.it has offered an update on the future of Leandro Paredes. The PSG midfielder is likely to be offloaded in the summer as the Parisian juggernaut brace themselves for a massive squad overhaul.

A return to Serie A could be on the horizon for Paredes, with both Juventus and Inter Milan keen on securing his services. However, the two Italian giants are set to face stiff competition from Premier League duo Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign the Argentine international this summer.

Formerly of AS Roma, Paredes has never been able to fulfil his potential since his move to PSG in 2019. He has lacked prominence in the first team, often failing to stand out among other talented midfielders such as Marco Verratti.

In fact, the Argentine is yet to register over 1,500 minutes of league football in a season since joining PSG, with injuries also playing a key role behind his slow downfall.

Paredes’s struggles, though, have not deterred Tottenham Hotspur, who are believed to be huge admirers of the midfielder. It appears the Lilywhites want to bring the 27-year-old to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the summer as the ideal replacement for Harry Winks, who could leave the club amid interest from Crystal Palace.

Paredes’s versatility and aggression in midfield could make him an excellent addition to Antonio Conte’s tactical setup. He can also add some much-needed competition for the likes of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Rodrigo Bentancur next season, making him quite a coup for Tottenham.

Another potential destination for the Argentine international is Arsenal. The Gunners are in the market for new midfielders as Mikel Arteta looks to add competition for Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka.

The north London giants have recently reignited their pursuit of January target Arthur Melo. But Paredes could be an interesting alternative for Arsenal as the PSG midfielder has more experience at the highest level of football, and his competitiveness could be just what the team is looking for.

The 27-year-old could be the cheaper option as well, with his current deal at PSG expiring at the end of next season. It could compel the French giants to sanction his sale for a discounted price in the summer, though both Arsenal and Tottenham must find a way to tackle the competition from Inter Milan and Juventus, who are in pole position to sign the midfielder.
