Chelsea are reportedly ready to make a move for Juventus superstar Paulo Dybala, who will be available as a free agent in the summer.
If a report from 90 min is to be believed, Chelsea are lining up a move for Paulo Dybala. The Juventus playmaker has emerged as one of the west London 0club’s top attacking targets, with the Premier League giants even holding initial talks with the player through intermediaries. They are set to open a discussion with Dybala over a Bosman deal once the club’s ownership issues get resolved.
Dybala’s current deal in Turin expires at the end of the season. Although Juventus had tried to nail the 28-year-old Argentine international down to a new contract, the two parties parties failed to come to an agreement, thus convincing the player to leave the club in the summer.
Once regarded as the next big thing in Argentine football, Dybala’s development at Juventus has not gone exactly as planned. His progress has been marred by various unfortunate injuries, although the attacker has still managed to rack up almost 300 competitive appearances. He has scored 113 goals for Juventus while providing 48 assists in all competitions.
Dybala’s versatility, coupled with his ability to carry the ball across the final third, make him an appealing target for top clubs across Europe. The Argentine has already been courted by Premier League giants Arsenal and Manchester United.
However, it appears the two English clubs are set to face stiff competition from fellow league rivals Chelsea. The Blues are bracing themselves for a busy summer ahead, with Christian Pulisic likely to leave the club amid interest from Juventus.
Thomas Tuchel might also want to offload Timo Werner, who is yet to hit the ground running at Stamford Bridge since joining from RB Leipzig. The German international is reportedly gunning for an exit from Chelsea in the summer, with Borussia Dortmund among the clubs interested in his services.
Werner’s potential exit could open up the opportunity for Chelsea to go big on Dybala. Offloading the German from their wage bill could allow the Blues to offer a lucrative contract for the Argentine ace, whose undoubted skill and ability in the final third can help Tuchel form a remarkable attacking unit next season.
